WESTON COLLEY in Micheldever
Found from 1280 as 'west farm', ie: seen from Micheldever. 'Colley' is a late addition which does not appear to commemorate a family; it seems to be a place name which could have a number of different sources, and which may or may not have been applied as a surname. If it was a local place name, it may be linked with the 'Blackcrate Cottages, Black Wood' in the same parish; such names may be indications of charcoal burning (cf Hoskins 1967) and the place name may contain Middle English 'col'='(char)coal'. But this is uncertain.
